OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY

As a Christmas gift to one another, Jake and Kylie went on a ski trip to Lake Tahoe in December 2022. As they got off of their connecting flight, Jake decided to reveal that Tahoe was actually on a winter storm advisory, but there was no turning back now! They made it to Reno, and as they drove to Tahoe, the storm made its entrance stronger than they could have imagined. In the quick 15 minutes Jake was checking into the condo, the SUV became buried, which he then had to dig out with the rental car ice scraper.

They woke up to 3 feet of snow, a fully buried car, and a shutdown Lake Tahoe. The ski lifts were buried and the roads were closed, so their only option was to make the snowy trek to the resort’s clubhouse, where Jake began to offer his license, credit card, and wallet to about everyone he saw in exchange for borrowing their shovel. Kylie had no interest at all in getting back into the car after the adventure of a drive they already had, and she did not understand why Jake was so determined to dig the car out. Finally, he secured a shovel and went to work, all while listening to the Steelers game, Jake managed to dig the car out in about 4 hours.

The next day, mind you, the snow is still not fully cleared, but Jake insists they go explore Lake Tahoe, starting with seeing the snow on the beach. There were multiple people on the beach, so it was not an abnormal situation. Jake suggested they walk toward the pier for a better view but quickly realized Kylie was sinking in the snow (he told her they would go to lunch after the lake, so there was no proper snow attire in the plans). A woman and her dog were walking towards them, and Jake asked her to take their picture. After they took the photo, Kylie turned around to find Jake down on one knee and was totally shocked!! He pulled off the surprise of a lifetime!
